The Need – Why "Make A Wish"?

Understanding the Silence

For children with disabilities from rural and low-income backgrounds, the world often shrinks to the space between their home and school.

Social Isolation

Limited interaction with the wider world.

Financial Barriers

Travel and exploration remain a distant luxury.

Caregiver Sacrifice

Mothers dedicate their lives to caregiving, often neglecting their own well-being.

The Goal: To break these barriers and prove that every child’s voice deserves to be heard and every dream is valid.

The Concept – The "Wish Post Box"

Giving a Voice to Dreams

1
Placement: We install a "Wish Post Box" at special schools and therapy centers.
2
Expression: Children are encouraged to write down or draw their smallest and biggest dreams—no matter how "impossible" they seem.
3
The Promise: Our team collects these notes, ensuring every child feels seen and heard. We believe that saying "Your dream matters" is the first step toward healing.

Bridging the Gap

Opportunities for exposure, aspiration, and joyful experiences.

Project Background & Need

Children with disabilities from rural and low-income backgrounds face a double disadvantage—the challenges of physical or developmental limitations, compounded by poverty, limited access to services, and social exclusion.

The Socio-Economic Gap

In many underserved communities, families struggle to meet even basic needs. For children with disabilities, this often results in restricted mobility and minimal recreational exposure. Aspirational experiences are typically viewed as unattainable luxuries.

The Psychological Gap

Mothers, who are most often the primary caregivers, shoulder continuous physical, emotional, and financial responsibilities. Caregiving becomes survival-oriented, leaving little space for joy.

Identified Programmatic Gap

Conventional disability interventions focus predominantly on treatment, therapy, and compliance. Joy—a powerful catalyst for resilience and confidence—is often missing from rehabilitation frameworks.

The Rationale for Make A Wish Project

Better Life Foundation believes that experiential learning and emotional breakthroughs are as critical as medical therapy. Moments of happiness, achievement, and wonder can reshape self-perception, strengthen caregiver-child bonds, and unlock new emotional capacities.

By bridging the gap between care and joy, the project redefines inclusion—not merely as support, but as shared human experience.

CSR Alignment & Global Impact

This initiative aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013.

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being

Enhances mental health and emotional well-being of differently-abled children and their primary caregivers (mothers) through "positive psychology" and joyful experiences.

  • SDG 5: Gender Equality

Empowers mothers who often sacrifice their own health and dreams for caregiving. By including them in the “MAKE A WISH”, the project recognizes and supports their unpaid labor and mental health.

  • SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

Bridges the "experience gap" between rural, low-income families and the urban elite by making MAKE A WISH Project—a symbol of status and opportunity—accessible to the marginalized.

  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Encourages collaboration between NGOs (Better Life Foundation), Corporate Donors (CSR), and Government bodies to solve social isolation.

Why Your Support is Vital

  • Breaking the Poverty of Dreams: For these families, a Dream is an "impossible luxury." Your support makes it a reality, proving that their dreams are valid.
  • Empowering the Unsung: This project honors The backbone of Dreamers—their parents and Guardians who dedicated their lives to 24/7 caregiving, offering them a rare moment of rest and recognition.
  • Building Inclusive Communities: By helping these children navigate public spaces, you are advocating for a more accessible and welcoming society.
